Imagine a plane that carries the memories of our lives. This plane
cannot be seen and it cannot be touched. But, it's possible that it could be
felt. Now imagine that this plane holds the records of everyone and everything
since the beginning of time. Picture a library with volumes and volumes of
information and that each person can add their book to this library and check
out someone else's. These are the Akashic Records.
The Akashic Records are connected with the religious theories of
reincarnation and karma. When we die, our soul is separate from our physical
body. This "spirit" then moves on to another physical body and exists in another
form. Each time our physical body dies, the soul continues by moving to another
body. This is the idea of reincarnation. During each of these "lives" we learn
and gain knowledge which our soul retains. We may not immediately remember these
lives each time we move onto a new one. But all of these past lives are
collected as memories - some believe they exist in our subconscious - and as we
live each life we develop and add to our personalities, morals and character.
In comes the concept of karma. In each reincarnation we need to create
balance. Karma is the idea of cause and effect: there are positive behaviors and
beliefs and there are negative behaviors and beliefs. In western terms, karma
makes us accountable for our actions and attitudes in each lifetime. If a past
life has collected negative karma through action or attitude, then a subsequent
life must learn the lessons from that karmic event. It is a reward and
punishment system for the soul.
As a human (and perhaps even as an
animal, plant or other living thing) you can learn and understand your karma
from past lives through the Akashic Records. Akasha is a Sanskrit word meaning
"sky" or "space". Many religions believe in the existence of Akashic Records,
including Pagan, Hindu, Hebrew, Islam and even Christian. (The Bible references
a "Book of Life" in both the Old and New Testaments.)
For some, gaining
access to the Akashic Records is a mystical and liberating experience. Psychics
often use the Akashic Records as a means to uncovering the truth about someone's
past. (Author's note: Although I could not explicitly find any evidence one way
or the other, I tend to believe that the Akashic Records cannot hold future
events, and therefore clairvoyant abilities would not be connected with the
"The Hall of Akashic Records in the Otherworld
is a beautiful, white, marble building, set in a serene landscape of ornamental
pools, statues, fountains, trees, and flowers. It contains the record of every
single life any person has ever lived." - D.J. Conway
"Akasha is one of
the cosmic principles and is a plastic matter, creative in its physical nature,
immutable in its higher principles. It is the quintessence of all possible forms
of energy, material, psychic, or spiritual; and contains within itself the germs
of universal creation, which sprout forth under the impulse of the Divine
Spirit." - Alchemy and the Secret Doctrine, Helena Petrovna Blavatsky
see myself as a tiny dot out of my physical body, which lies inert before me. I
find myself oppressed by darkness and there is a feeling of terrific loneliness.
Suddenly, I am conscious of a white beam of light. As this tiny dot, I move
upward following the light, knowing that I must follow it or be lost. As I move
along this path of light I gradually become conscious of various levels upon
which there is movement. Upon the first levels there are vague, horrible shapes,
grotesque forms such as one sees in nightmares. Passing on, there begin to
appear on either side misshapen forms of human beings with some part of the body
magnified. Again there is change and I become conscious of gray-hooded forms
moving downward. Gradually, these become lighter in color. Then the direction
changes and these forms move upward and the color of the robes grows rapidly
lighter. Next, there begin to appear on either side vague outlines of houses,
walls, trees, etc., but everything is motionless. As I pass on, there is more
light and movement in what appear to be normal cities and towns. With the growth
of movement I become conscious of sounds, at first indistinct rumblings, then
music, laughter, and singing of birds. There is more and more light, the colors
become very beautiful, and there is the sound of wonderful music. The houses are
left behind, ahead there is only a blending of sound and color. Quite suddenly I
come upon a hall of records. It is a hall without walls, without ceiling, but I
am conscious of seeing an old man who hands me a large book, a record of the
individual for whom I seek information." - Edgar Cayce
records the soul's journey, and it seems to be interpreted in different ways by
different people. The Akashic Records can guide a current incarnation of a soul,
providing clarity and allowing for change before too much karmic damage is
incurred. When you examine the choices you have made in the current life, you
will begin to understand karma: who you have been, who you are and where your
soul may go from here. Explore your own soul knowledge through a psychic past
life reading, meditation, or visualization.
