Dear Folks,

today a little girl I was teaching said what she wanted to do, and then stopped, and looked at me, "... but I'm afraid."  When you're small, it's pretty simple: I want to go over there, I want to do this, but I'm afraid.

I think I will practice saying this out loud, when that same feeling comes over me.  "Honey, I want to bring this up, but I'm afraid."

What an honest starter!  Does it not invite the feeling of helping?  I immediately told her I would accompany her ... I have a friend who, every time we part, manages to throw a remark that I then obsess about ... some little thing that worries me.  I've been afraid to bring it up.  Now I look forward to saying -- "I'm afraid to bring this up, but how is it that right when I'm about to leave, you say something I can't do anything with???  But I'm afraid that this will make a dent in our friendship ... "  I'll let  you know how it turns out ... xoJ

Making friends with fear is possible... it is through love of self and acceptance that we can sit with every version of oneself to help ourselves then love to help others.

Thank you for this group. I am at this door now walking in and I will need support as I do this transition.

Felt as if I wanted to comment with questions...Is fear something that comes as a form of protection of our egos?  Do we fear what people will think about us?  If so doe we allow our fears to cause us to lie in order to protect how people will look at us?   Or does fear have more to do with the fear of doing something wrong?  If all of this is true then, doesn't LOVE offer a different choice?  Doesn't love overcome fear?
