I grew up in Georgia and Northern Florida, attending high school in Atlanta and completing my undergraduate degree at Florida State University. I left the South at nearly age thirty when I attended the Indiana University School of Music for two years of graduate study. From there I moved to Washington, D. C. and eventually to London while spending nearly twenty years as a concert singer with engagements throughout the US, Europe and Canada.
I returned to Atlanta in 1993 and began to devote myself to social work. While in Atlanta I assisted homeless and low income people to find needed services. Moving to Missoula, MT in 1999, I first worked with the Human Resource Council assisting people applying for social security disability insurance. From this position I moved in 2002 into my present work as a Vision Rehabilitation Therapist, working first in the Missoula office and eventually becoming manager for the Great Falls Montana Blind and Low Vision Services office.
I have been in Great Falls for the past four years, overseeing a geographical area for Blind & Low Vision Services extending from West Glacier to the North Dakota border. This area includes four larger towns, numerous smaller towns, four reservations and numerous Hutterite communities. We assist people with blindness or low vision in these communities to achieve or maintain employment, independent living, and to further their education when possible.
Writing is now my primary interest while I continue to concentrate on this work. Though I love the Montana landscape, its climate and its people, I hope to visit Canada and Europe once again and also to visit Central and South America and Asia. I hope somehow to make a worthwhile contribution to the human experience as I share with others in every way that I can through writing and a continuing spiritual journey.
