For years I used to say I am a 3rd generation carpenter. Now I understand, the truth is that I've been doing carpentry for a career. 28yrs now and the last 2 years I've been using my skill more in the way of volunteering. Funny thing, I actually enjoy carpentry more when I'm not getting paid for it. Who'd figure..not me for a number of years, but I'm glad I finally did.
My Mum's the one that introduced me to volunteering years ago when I was a teen. Thanks Mum !
This little saying has been on my resume since I first started in my career of carpentry. It's from a book by "Maria Montessori: - "The Absorbent Mind"
"The truth is that when a free spirit exists, it has to materialize itself in some form of work, and for this the hands are needed. Everywhere we find traces of man's handiwork and through these we can catch a glimpse of his spirit and the thoughts of his time".
In the way of religions, incuding science, I believe in all of them. Or should I say I believe in Humanity and the Earth Experiance. I like to focus on our similarities verses our differences. What I love about language is that words can have so many different meanings (perceptions)and I believe none of them are wrong. What ever one perceives to be true, is true to them.
I realized something a few months ago. It was arrogant of me to believe that only humans can love. I now know that the water that washes my back and body in the shower loves me. The water that I drink, loves me. The air I breath loves me. The Earth I walk on..
