I haven't been here for some time and I must admit I think I even forgot about this site for a while. I have been, other than raising my precious little earth angel, studying, sometimes working & trying to put everything together lol.
After the last time I was really here I got more involved in gardening which, oddly enough was way new to me as I always seemed to have 1 houseplant that survived a year if it was lucky. I undertook this venture because my darling daughter seemed to eat more veggies at her great-grandmother's as she could wander the garden & pick what she liked. She was yet again, my catalyst. I decided if I was to loose weight & be a healthy role model while encouraging this particular grazing behaviour then I needed to get stuck into gardening. I then took a local class at my nearby community garden learning the basics of how to grow your own food. This turned out to be a life changing event for me. The course itself wasn't magical or moving but, it has changed my path so abruptly & so completely that I just sit in astonishment sometimes.
When the course ended I wanted to know more so I took a Permaculture Design Certificate and at the same time took a volunteer course to become a community leader & promote social inclusion. Needless to say between those 2 things added to the everyday life of raising a young child & maintaining a household on your own I got a bit off my spiritual path to a point. I still attended Mind, Body & Spirit festivals when I could or read the occasional book but, mostly it was doing those things I just mentioned. Now, the combined effect of both of those courses inspired me to start a community garden in the common backyard in my Public Housing estate. Let me tell you it wasn't nor has yet to be an easy project!!!!!! Sometimes it wears me down but, I just keep plodding on the best I can. We have a LARGE backyard & there has been heaps of planting, sourcing things, reading on what else I need to do to make it work better & to add to the mix.... I went & got some chickens! We now have chickens in our garden. It is a lot for one person to manage but, I am sure ppl will start stepping up & helping soon. I have also recently adopted a couple of bunnies for my daughter & I just because we love animals!
This year has started off with a bang as well as I decided at the last minute that my little girl was ready for school even though she is 4.5. Our cut off day here falls 2 weeks after her birthday so she was legally allowed to start. I feel confident with that for the most part but, sometimes I still doubt. On top of all this I kept trying to maintain my studies in Computer Animation until this year when I decided it didn't not fit who I really am. I have enrolled into full-time on-line studies after much, much searching around. Now almost everything is settling down & I can come here to share in the love & growth. I forgot how much I missed talking to ppl of like mind.
Oh! Btw, if you are on FB then come by my Regeneration Nation page. It's all about regenerating the Earth & it's inhabitants & that includes socitey!
Kindest wishes & blessings to you all,
