Diamonds are created from tremendous pressure under the earth. Over time, coming from a very common element, coal is transformed to diamond then it can be mined. Often they are unremarkable; they may even look like dirty stones.
They then depend on the skill of someone to cut and polish them to their fullness and brilliance. You never know how “good” of a diamond you’re getting until you cut and polish it. It may be an accidental fracturing that breaks it open and the light hits it, and you discover the many facets.
Our focus here isn't the common analogy to diamonds being created by pressure, and the pressures of the human condition is what purifies and magnifies us. That is certainly be a valid perspective, especially as we do go through our daily and yearly challenges.
The gem in here is the many facets, the wide range of perspectives and expressions that we may access. The facets are mirrors reflecting back any given viewpoint. The expressions of these are the various personas or voices that we use to engage with the surrounding world. By traveling within the psyche and soul, with intention, recognizing and engaging with these important parts of Self we honor the multiplicity of the Soul.
