Question: I inexplicably, actively avoid meditation and prayer ... the stubborn ego at work, wanting to preserve the status quo, afraid of dying to that larger, sweeter life. What can I do to get out of the clutches of the stubborn ego?
Baba says: Please even if you are in awareness of the Divine beauty looking out of the kitchen window and seeing the dancing leaves and branches, then just be happy that you were with God, even for a few seconds. Recognize the beauty in life rather than saying or thinking or writing about the stubbornego. If you talk about the ego, think about the ego, write about the ego, that only makes the ego more stubborn.
It is not the ego which is stubborn, it is your repetition of the word stubborn, that has made it happen again and again. Ego is not to be feared, judged or rejected. Simply witness it. Acknowledge it. Let it humble you.
Change your words, change your thoughts, and look for the few good things you are doing daily. Talk about what is good in your life out LOUD! So that the voice of any negative suggestion is driven away. For the loudest voice is the one that you hear....will it be your negative voice or the Voice of Positivity? It is your choice.
