STAGE: END OF LIFE OF PATIENTS Catholic, Protestant, Buddhist, Jewish, Muslim

Caregivers in institutions or at home are increasingly in contact with patients dying of various denominations.
Cultural differences are sometimes strong and can put teams in difficulty.

This course comes in 2 versions:
- A version designed for inter-institutional "supervisors": Executives and senior health, DSSI, nursing home directors, IDEC, Doctors coordinators, ...
- A version designed for within-school teams


Objective:

Better understand the rites and rituals of the main religions: Catholic, Protestant, Buddhist, Jewish and Muslim will control more effectively the purposes of life of these patients, continuity of care post-mortem practices and adapt to the surroundings while respecting the law.


Program:
1 - In the Catholic and Protestant religions
Rites and differences

2 - The Buddhist rites of passage from life to death
Buddhist ritual and meaning of death.
Rites of passage from life to death and funerals.
Body care.
Hints:
Precautions to be taken vis-à-vis the body and families.
Announcement of death.

3 - Judaism
The accompaniment of the sick and dead
Mourning
The Leval: Burial
Mourning after Levai
Announcement of Death

4 - Islam
Representations of death in Islam
Rituals and their evolution
Muslim mourning
Announcement of Death
Delays
The Toilet Muslim home and hospital characteristics
Precautions to be taken vis-à-vis the body and families

5 - Embalming and belief: for each religion

6 - Case banning embalming

7 - Non-religious

Teaching methods:

A mix of lectures, role plays and case studies.
No need to take notes during this course. All that is stated is also noted in the booklet.



Rating:

Assessment written and oral end of the course.
Each student has an individual assistance by telephone or email for a period of 24 months
